ECHSA 2023

Dear ECHSA Members and friends,
I am most saddened to announce to our community that Gerhard Ziemer, our esteemed colleague, dear friend, and widely respected ECHSA founder and ECHSA First President, has passed away suddenly last Friday, Nov 11 2022.
This is a great loss for ECHSA and the congenital cardiac community.  Still, Gerhard has left much as a legacy, including ECHSA itself.
In this link please find a short letter on Gerhard’s life and contributions by ECHSA co-founder and past President Giovanni Stellin.  I invite anyone who may wish to share any thoughts or memories of Gerhard to do so by email message to our Secretariat (secretariat@echsa.org), to be published on the ECHSA website.
Our respect is due to Gerhard’s memory and our deepest condolences to his wife Sabine and the rest of his family.
George Sarris
ECHSA President
